Affiliate Partners Programme
As a Product Designer at Penni.io, I was tasked with designing an intuitive web application that allows users to embed insurance form modals on their websites and earn commissions through affiliate marketing. The primary objectives were to design an app that is easy to use, visually appealing, and efficient in tracking earnings.
Process
Research and understanding users needs
Firstly I began by researching existing affiliate marketing platforms and understanding the specific needs of users looking to monetize through embedded insurance. From surveys and interviews, it was clear that users needed a streamlined onboarding process, an intuitive interface for creating insurance forms, and an efficient dashboard to track earnings.
Ideation and concept development
With the user's needs in mind, I initiated the ideation phase, sketching different concepts and layouts for the web app. I focused on ensuring that the UI is clutter-free and that the workflow is intuitive. I created high-fidelity mockups to lay out the basic structure, which included:
A user profile creation and verification page
A wizard-style interface for creating insurance form modals
A dashboard to track earnings and payouts
Prototyping
The wireframes served as a blueprint for creating an interactive prototype. I used Figma to build the prototype, focusing on aesthetics that instilled trust and professionalism. I integrated micro-interactions to make the user experience more engaging.
User Testing & Feedback
I conducted user testing sessions with a diverse group of potential users. The feedback revealed that while the design was visually appealing, some users found the process of creating insurance form modals slightly complicated.
Iteration & Refinement
Based on the feedback, I made several iterations to the design, simplifying the form creation process and making the navigation more intuitive. I also added tooltips and in-app guidance to assist users throughout the application.
Final Design & Implementation
The final design consisted of a streamlined user flow, with an elegant and professional aesthetic. The dashboard was made highly intuitive, with clear metrics showing earnings and pending payouts. The form creation wizard was optimized for ease of use, with a drag-and-drop functionality.
Results
Post-launch, the app received positive feedback from users, especially regarding its ease of use and efficiency in tracking earnings. My manager and other stakeholders were satisfied with the design, and initial metrics showed an increase in user sign-ups and active usage.
Conclusion
Designing the affiliate marketing web app for embedded insurance was a process that required a balance between aesthetics, functionality, and user experience. By focusing on user needs, iterating based on feedback, and ensuring an intuitive design, I was able to create a product that effectively serves its target audience and meets the business objectives.
